Sauger

Characteristics:
Usually olive-gray on back with white belly; back crossed with 3 to 4 dark saddles extending down sides; 2 to 3 rows of black dots on the anterior dorsal fin; large, glossy eyes and sharp teeth; seldom exceed 2 to 4 pounds. The sauger is closely related to the walleye, but does not grow as large. As a member of the perch family, it also has a large spiny dorsal fin. It is most easily distinguished from the walleye by the absence of the white area on its tail fin.

Foods:

Small fishes, other aquatic animals like leeches and insects. It often feeds on the same shoals as the walleye.
