Wabamun Lake
Wabamun Lake is located west of Edmonton near the town of Seba Beach. This lake is known as the best Whitefish lake in the Edmonton area. Not because of their size because the only get to 5 pounds but because the are plentiful. If you can't catch anything else on this lake your sure to catch a Whitefish. If you come to this lake to fish for Pike you better bring large hooks and strong leaders. The Pike in this lake get to be 30 pounds. The best place to fish for them is right by the power plant using frozen smelts, not minnows, smelts. Not only does this lake have respectful sizes for these two fish, you can throw in Perch up to 2 pounds also. 2 pounds may not seem like much but when the average Perch caught is only 1/2 to 3/4 of a pound these perch just might give you a run for your money. Pound for pound I'd say that Perch are one of the toughest fighting fish going. Don't be surprised if your fishing for Pike and pull up a Walleye. The Walleye are not as plentiful as they used to be, but there still are some remaining in the lake. Just remember to release any Walleye you catch so that they can multiply and become plentiful again.
